Privacy Policy

The Parent Involvement Advisory Committee (“PIAC”) is committed to protecting your privacy and developing technology that gives you the most powerful and safe online experience. This Statement of Privacy applies to the Parent Involvement Advisory Committee site and governs data collection and usage. By using the PIAC site, you consent to the data practices described in this statement.

Collection of your Personal Information

PIAC only collects personally identifiable information, such as your email address, name, home or work address or telephone number during registration for our events for the purposes of event attendee communications. PIAC may also collect anonymous demographic information, which is not unique to you, such as your ward number, Learning Centre, school name, and postal code, for the purposes of providing statistical data to the Government of Ontario for funding considerations.

There is also information about your computer hardware and software that is automatically collected by PIAC. This information can include: your IP address, browser type, domain names, access times and referring website addresses. This information is used by PIAC for the operation of the service, to maintain the quality of the service, and to provide general statistics regarding the use of the PIAC site.

PIAC is not responsible for privacy statements or other content on websites outside of the PIAC.

Use of your Personal Information

PIAC collects and uses your provided personal information to operate the PIAC website and deliver the services you have requested. PIAC may also contact you via surveys to conduct research about your opinion of current services or of potential new services that may be offered.

PIAC does not sell, rent or lease its customer lists to third parties. In addition, PIAC may share data with trusted partners to help us perform statistical analysis or send subscribers emails. All such third parties are prohibited from using your personal information except to provide these services to PIAC, and they are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information.

PIAC does not collect, use or disclose sensitive personal information, such as race, religion, or political affiliations.

PIAC keeps track of the websites and pages our customers visit within PIAC, in order to determine what PIAC services are the most popular. This data is used to optimize content for site visitors based on the content that is viewed the most.

PIAC will disclose your personal information, without notice, only if required to do so by law to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with the legal process served on the PIAC site; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of PIAC; and, (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of site users or the public.

When personal information (such as a credit card number) is transmitted to other websites, it is protected through the use of encryption, such as the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol.

PIAC may occasionally update this Statement of Privacy to reflect committee and site visitor feedback. The Parent Involvement Advisory Committee encourages you to periodically review this Statement to be informed of how PIAC is protecting your information.
